Ottawa River Power Corporation Partners with City of Pembroke, Installs Solar Lights at Local Skatepark

Ottawa River Power Corporation (ORPC) is proud to partner with the City of Pembroke Parks and Recreation Department to bring new solar powered lights to the Rapids Skate Park.

The Rapids Skate Park, located at 22 Lake Street, is a popular spot for Pembroke locals. During the day, the Park is often filled with skaters and spectators. The Park is also popular at night, but with the lack of lighting, some residents were concerned about the safety of the skaters.

In collaboration with the City of Pembroke Parks and Recreation Department, ORPC installed four new solar powered lights around the skate park. These new lights extend the park’s usable hours, and light up the shadows cast by the ramps and railings, so skaters can see any potential hazards that might have been hidden before.

ORPC President and CEO Justin Allen said, “Ottawa River Power is happy to help the City of Pembroke install solar lights at The Rapids Skate Park. These lights make the park safer and let families and kids use it longer each day.”

Ontario’s LDCs are always looking for new ways to serve their customers, and ORPC was overjoyed to have an opportunity to strengthen this community hub.
