Main regulators of the electricity distribution sector in Ontario:

Government of Ontario – through the Ministry of Energy, sets energy policy, primarily through laws and regulations.

Ontario Energy Board (OEB) – regulated the energy sector in Ontario, licenses energy companies, sets rules and rates.

Independent Electricity Systems Operator (IESO) – a not-for-profit corporation mandated by the Ontario Ministry of Energy to oversee and enforce reliability standards and processes.

Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) – an administrative authority mandated by the Government of Ontario to enhance public electrical safety in the province.
