Northern Ontario Wires Inc. is constructing a new municipal transformer station in Cochrane. The project will replace aging infrastructure, improve reliability, and help the community meet growing electricity needs for years to come.
The new station, located on Western Avenue, will connect the high voltage transmission system directly to Cochrane's local electricity grid. Once complete, it will double the community's electrical capacity, creating more room for growth and strengthening the local power system.
The project strengthens the foundation for businesses to thrive. Additional electrical capacity will help support new homes, businesses, and industrial development while improving the reliability of the electricity system that the community depends on every day.

This new transformer station will provide the capacity and reliability we need to support growth, attract new investment and ensure that our electrical system is ready to meet the needs of the community for decades to come.”
