Oakville Hydro continues to invest in its employees through leadership development, career growth opportunities, and workplace engagement programs. Through these efforts, the utility created a culture where employees can grow their skills, strengthen connections, and contribute to the organization's long term success.
Oakville Hydro launched its Drive and Thrive initiative in 2025. It’s a comprehensive framework designed to empower employees at all levels. The initiative includes the Leader's Edge program, which helps established leaders build their impact and strengthen business and strategic skills. The utility also continued its Getting Ready for Opportunities at Work program, better known as GROW, to give emerging professionals the opportunity to present ideas and industry insights to senior leadership. Employee development remained a key focus throughout the year. Oakville Hydro introduced the LEAP Learning, Experience, Assignment and Promotion program – LEAP to give employees the opportunity to take part in new projects and assignments that build skills and prepare them for future career moves.
The utility also strengthened employee engagement through initiatives that recognize achievements and build community. Daily employee recognitions highlighted brand behaviours and milestones across the organization. Team members participated in activities such as trivia challenges, employee appreciation programs, family events, charity initiatives, and volunteer activities. Oakville Hydro continued to modernize meeting spaces and collaboration tools to support teamwork and innovation.
These efforts helped create a connected and values driven workplace. In 2025, employees submitted 387 peer recognitions celebrating teamwork and excellence. Through leadership development, employee growth programs, and a strong focus on culture, Oakville Hydro continues to build a workplace where employees can thrive and contribute to the communities they serve.
