Canadian Niagara Power (CNP), a Fortis Ontario company, has long been a pillar of support in its community, consistently demonstrating a commitment to enhancing the lives of its residents. Recently, CNP proudly supported the “Our Town, Our Home” community fundraising campaign by the Lions Club and the Lion’s Douglas Heights Senior Residence Inc. This initiative aims to build new affordable housing for seniors in Fort Erie. CNP contributed $10,000 towards this project, underscoring its dedication to addressing local housing needs and supporting vulnerable populations.
In October 2024, CNP’s Director of Corporate Customer Service, Kristine Carmichael, and Regional Manager, Jeff Hoover, kick-started this initiative and met with Linda Scott and Gord Szaszi from the project team on site. This project is designed to offer lower-cost housing for seniors, ensuring they have a safe and comfortable place to live.
Beyond this significant contribution, Canadian Niagara Power engages in various other community-focused activities. They regularly sponsor local events and support infrastructure improvements that benefit the broader community. This year, Canadian Niagara Power also donated to the Crystal Ridge Dream Center, helping to provide over 177 meals to those in need, while CNP staff also volunteered at Strong Fort Erie Neighbourhoods (CFEN), preparing and packing over 300 meals to vulnerable community members.
The importance of these contributions cannot be overstated and have not gone unnoticed – in 2023 Canadian Niagara Power received the United Way’s Campaign of the Year for the company’s outstanding contribution to its community. By investing in community development, CNP helps create a more resilient and vibrant community. Their efforts not only address immediate needs but also build a foundation for long-term growth and prosperity. Supporting community initiatives ensures that all community members have the opportunity to thrive. This holistic approach to community engagement reflects a deep understanding of the interconnectedness of social and economic vitality, making Canadian Niagara Power a valuable partner in community well-being.
