Preparing for the Future: ERTH Power Breaks Ground on New Zero-Carbon Operations Centre

ERTH Power Corporation has officially broken ground on a new zero-carbon operations centre in Ingersoll, Ontario. This investment, guided by a comprehensive needs assessment and site search by ERTH Power and its Board of Directors, will address capacity limitations and the deteriorating condition of the existing operations centre, positioning ERTH Power to meet the future energy needs of its consumers.

The 57,000-square-foot, two-story facility is a purpose-built, energy-efficient design that will support future growth and increased electricity demands, ensuring ERTH Power is equipped to adapt to the evolving energy landscape and a changing climate. Developed in collaboration with local engineering and architectural firms, the facility will feature advanced technologies, including a state-of-the-art control room for real-time monitoring of the distribution system. Among its sustainable features, the facility will include an advanced heat pump and heat recovery system that leverages geothermal ground-source energy, eliminating the need for natural gas. The building’s total electricity usage will be offset by 80% through a 460 kW rooftop photovoltaic (PV) solar system. With no natural gas supply to the facility, it will be the first zero-carbon facility of its kind in Ontario’s utility sector.

“We are excited to embark on this journey to build a modernized utility operations centre that will not only improve operational efficiency for our utility, but also benefit our customers, community, and the environment,” said Chris White, President and CEO of ERTH Corporation. “As the energy landscape continues to electrify and evolve, this new facility will position ERTH Power well to continue on with a history of strong reliability and customer responsiveness, while meeting the increasing electricity demands of the future.”
Construction is expected to be complete by December 2025.
