As Ontario’s energy landscape evolves, utilities face growing challenges, including an aging workforce and rising retirements, requiring them to train new and existing employees to replace decades of knowledge.
To help utilities tackle these challenges, ERTH fosters a culture of learning, collaboration, and mentorship through its ERTH Academy training workshops and ERTH Connects user group conference, equipping utility professionals with essential skills to navigate a complex, evolving industry.
ERTH Academy Training Workshops
ERTH Academy provides hands-on training for customer service, billing, collections, and operational functions. Led by ERTH’s subject matter experts, participants gain practical experience with Customer Information and Billing systems in a dedicated sandbox environment. This approach enhances technical skills, boosts confidence, and strengthens support networks.
“ERTH Academy is an excellent source of industry-specific training for staff who are either new to the industry or transitioning into a new position,” said Lee Munro, Senior Manager, Customer Experience at Oakville Hydro. “Training alongside staff from other utilities provides a great opportunity to collaborate and share best practices.”

ERTH Connects User Group Conference
Since its inception, ERTH Connects has become a highlight of the year for many utilities across the province. This event brings together 50+ attendees from over 20 Ontario utilities and solution providers for two days of learning, idea sharing, and collaboration.
“ERTH Connects is a great opportunity to collaborate with our fellow LDC's and learn about new industry initiatives from our business partners,” said Sara Engels, Manager, Corporate Services at Niagara-on-the-Lake Hydro Inc. “The seminars are relevant and engaging, allowing for fantastic networking."
In 2025, ERTH Connects is raising the bar with a new venue in The Blue Mountains, Ontario, and a reimagined agenda featuring two focused learning tracks:
- The CIS Track: Designed for customer service, billing, collections, and regulatory roles.
- The Quadra Track: Geared towards professionals in planning, estimating, and project management roles who are using the Quadra estimating solution.
The expanded agenda blends trusted ERTH Connects favourites, such as roundtable discussions, breakout groups, and product tips and tricks, with fresh content like time management, AI, and customer engagement.
