Utilities Kingston proudly celebrates the enduring success of its Annual Safety Days event. For two days each year, Utilities Kingston organizes a series of informational and instructional sessions for local contractors.
First held 16 years ago, the Annual Safety Days event has been a beacon for local workers. It gives contractors a sense of community and the opportunity to exchange stories and techniques they’ve collected over the years.
The program covers a wide range of topics and receives yearly updates to ensure that workers are kept informed about new developments in the field. In 2023, there were specialized training sessions on working at extreme heights and managing personal safety equipment and informational sessions about emerging safety trends and regulatory compliance.
The Annual Safety Days’ positive impact cannot be overstated. Amanda MacDuffee, President of All Safety Consulting Inc., said the event has “facilitated networking opportunities, encouraged partnerships, and created a sense of camaraderie among industry professionals, ultimately fostering a thriving and sustainable business ecosystem”. It has benefited the City of Kingston as well, by “enhancing safety standards and promoting a culture of excellence, Kingston has become an attractive destination for contractors and businesses looking to establish a strong presence”.
