Benefits of MembershipLocal Distribution Company Members
The Electricity Distributors Association is the voice of Ontario’s local electricity distribution companies (LDCs). The EDA provides its LDC members with advocacy and representation in the legislative and regulatory environment and the electricity market in Ontario.
The electricity industry is a unique industry segment with unique needs. EDA’s strategic focus on matters of shared interest illustrates the tangible value we bring to our members.
The EDA provides members with the value knowledge, networking opportunities and collective action vital to the business success of each member. We offer our members value-added, targeted information, analysis and education so that they can prosper as commercial entities by focusing core business efforts in three areas: advocacy, information & analysis, and networking.
As a member corporation – represented by a Board or Company Officer – LDC members are entitled to the full suite of member privileges, products and services, as well as the right to vote on all matters that are taken before the membership.

Commercial Members
Service Companies and Suppliers to the electricity marketplace form an important part of the commercial landscape of this industry. Communication, interaction, and open access to this group are in the direct interests of both our membership, and the commercial companies themselves. Accordingly, the EDA has reserved a class of Commercial Membership expressly for this group. The intention is to have them share in the fabric of regular information exchange, conferences, and networking opportunities.
Commercial Member Privileges
- Business listing in Member Handbook and on EDA website
- Access to Association conferences at preferred rates
- Sponsorship opportunities as Association conferences

- Option to upgrade membership to an Associate Membership
The Commercial Member Steering Committee was created to work with the EDA to ensure that commercial members' needs are being met. The members of the Steering Committee represent a cross section of commercial member companies. Information on their activities/meetings is distributed to EDA commercial members as they occur. The greater membership is encouraged to work with the Steering Committee to ensure matters of interest are addressed on their behalf.
