News ReleaseMay 15, 2009 - For Immediate ReleaseYou Can ‘Count Ontario's Electricity Distributors In' for Energy Conservation Week - May 17 to 23
Promoting Energy Conservation Awareness, Inspiring Action and Creating a Culture of Conservation Among Ontarians
Toronto - The Electricity Distributors Association (EDA) and its over 80 local electricity distribution companies understand the power of collective action and the accumulative effect that individual conservation actions can have in making a difference.
As a partner of Energy Conservation Week 2009, the EDA and its member electricity distribution companies are proud to be ‘Counted In’ and look forward to promoting and participating in the Province’s upcoming 2nd Annual Energy Conservation Week that takes place next week, May 17 to 23, across Ontario.
“We unequivocally pledge that you can ‘Count Ontario’s Electricity Distributors In’,” said John Loucks, EDA Chair. “The province’s electricity distributors are committed to working alongside government and key industry partners to help educate, promote and deliver effective energy conservation activities and programs to our many residential and business customers. In communities throughout the province we are helping to ensure a cleaner, environmentally sound and sustainable energy future for all Ontarians.”
Electricity distributors are working in their communities to stage events that promote conservation awareness and inspire customers to conserve – from special ‘conservation’ barbecues and popular promotions with retail outlets in the community, to special educational sessions for school children that focus on the need to conserve.
“Electricity distributors recognize the importance of substantial and timely conservation measures and are supportive of government policies that are creating a modern, renewable and sustainable electricity system,” said EDA President and CEO, Charlie Macaluso. “As trusted frontline delivers of conservation distributors continue to demonstrate their initiative and innovation in the development and delivery of community-based conservation activities.”
Take the pledge to ‘Count Me In!’ and take action on electricity conservation.
